Mia started training dogs at 7 years old, by joining a dog 4H club. She and her Australian Shepherd, Wrangler, competed in 4H shows and obtained many obedience and showmanship championship and grand championship wins. Through 4H, Mia discovered her love for training and showing dogs.

In 2017, Mia got her first Ibizan Hound, CKC GCH DC AKC CH Icycold Third Time SC FDC TKN “Charm”, and showed her heavily in AKC breed shows. She has handled her to a hound group win, multiple placements, and high honor awards, including an Award of Merit at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club.  Charm ranked to be the #10 Ibizan hound (all breed) and the #3 Owner Handled Ibizan in the US.  Mia continues to handle dogs in shows, now focusing on her new up and comer, IcyCold daVinci’s Made for the Spotlight “Idina”.

Besides dog shows, Mia has years in experience in obedience, agility, lure coursing, and trick training. Mia has been training at K9C since 2015 and apprenticed under trainers here for many years. She has a passion for training dogs.

Upon receiving her bachelor’s degree at Utica University with various animal behavior and biology classes under her belt she finally felt ready to follow her childhood dreams of training dogs and competing in the world of dog sports. She prepared for years and when she felt ready, got her first Bedlington Terrier, Breitling (Starcastle’s Coveted Timepiece RE CGC TKI). She has titled this dog quickly in 2023, earning their Rally Excellent title at the end of the year, Canine Good Citizen title, and various trick titles. This is the dog that started it all for her. He is currently the highest scoring Bedlington Terrier in the sport of Rally Obedience & on the way to making history as the first Bedlington Terrier to earn a RACH (championship title). They qualified for the 2024 national championship with the high scores of 100, 98, and 97.
She has shadowed and trained underneath various trainers and schools, in both upstate New York and here in Rhode Island.
