Nose Work Instructor
Tracey Costa began nose work training with her West Highland White Terrier, Maisie, in April 2010. She has trained with three Certified Nose Work instructors as well as a search and rescue expert. She recently attended a K9 Nose Work camp with her older Westie, Dundee. While there, she was immersed in everything nose work and learned the current training methods from the founders of K9 nose work and other CNWI. Tracey is a member of the National Association of Canine Scent Work. In 2011, her dog Maisie was the first Westie to earn a NW1 title and place third overall at trial. She continues to train with Maisie at the NW2 level. In addition to nose work, Tracey enjoys teaching basic manners and pet tricks. She and her Westies are members of Therapy Dog International. As well as working with her dogs, she also enjoys working with humans and is a teacher/naturalist with the Massachusetts Audubon Society. She recently taught a week long summer camp devoted to “Canine Science”. Tracey also presented a program at a local library focused on bite prevention and keeping children safe around dogs.
